Ophir Park

31st & Sheridan Road – Thanks to a Green Region grant from ComEd and Openlands, progress is underway to convert Ophir Park into a pollinator and naturalized garden space with educational signage and sitting benches to be installed by the middle of October.

Due to the wetland classification of Ophir Park it is best suited as a diverse habitat for honeybees, birds and butterflies with the intention of becoming a monarch waystation. A monarch waystation provides resources necessary for monarchs to produce successive generations and sustain their migration. Overtime, the project will create a beautiful naturalized habitat that provides pollinators with the resources they need to thrive.
