Zion Park District Announces New Executive Director

The Zion Park District appointed Marilyn Krieger as the new executive director at the December board meeting. Krieger will replace current director Rich Walker. Walker is retiring on April 30 and Krieger will take over May 1.

Krieger has 25 years of experience in parks and recreation. Most recently she served as the Superintendent of Recreation. “Marilyn will bring her own unique perspective to her role as Executive Director, while still being sensitive and mindful of the character of our community. I have no doubt and nothing but the utmost confidence in her ability to lead the Zion Park District into the next decade and beyond. I congratulate her and the Zion Park Board of Commissioners on her appointment,” said Executive Director Rich Walker.

Krieger has a bachelor’s degree from SIU Carbondale and majored in recreation management. She is a certified park and recreation professional.

“I am honored and excited to be appointed as the Executive Director of the Zion Park District. I have been fortunate to work with Rich Walker for many years and have learned from his experienced leadership. The Zion Park District is an important place to me and I look forward to leading the organization in partnership with the Board, staff, patrons and our community. We are fortunate to have beautiful parks and a variety of recreational programs to choose from. I invite you to visit one of our many parks or to enroll in a program that’s just right for you,” Krieger said.
