Zion Park District Hermon Park Center Director Receives Black Diamond Award

David B. Osborne Sr., Zion Park District Hermon Park Center Director for over twenty years, was recently awarded the Black Diamond Award for his outstanding work in the Zion, Waukegan, and North Chicago communities from the Black Student’s Parents Organizations.

David B. Osborne Sr. is the Director of youth basketball, Little League Baseball, Hermon Park Day Camp, the annual Black History Program, Hermon Park Fitness and Recreation Center and oversees many other projects. David is also a member of the Zion Kiwanis Club.

Presenting the award was Anita Hanna (President) and Gina Worthington (Vice President) of the Black Student’s Parents Organizations. Anita Hanna complimented Mr. Osborne on his involvement, not only in his community but the surrounding communities as well. It was stated that Mr. Osborne exemplifies passion, action, and energy that symbolize a Black Diamond Award. He impacts the lives of so many students throughout the communities.

Mr. Osborne thanked God and the Zion Park District. He went on to say, without the Zion Park District he wouldn’t be the man he is today. He started coming to the Zion Park District when he was six years old. He learned how to play hockey, ping pong, baseball, basketball, football, and so much more through the Zion Park District. Mr. Osborne stated, “The Zion Park District has always treated me with love and respect and that’s why I’m here today. I feel privileged to teach the young men and women who come to the Zion Park District the same values I learned since I first walk through the Park District doors.
Also receiving and award for graduating was Christopher Moragne who will be attending Dubuque University in Iowa on a basketball scholarship. The program was held on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 4:00pm at North Shore Church in Waukegan, IL.
