Zion Park District Lifeguards Honored

The Zion Park District aquatics program has received the “2013 Gold International Aquatic Safety Award”, from Jeff Ellis & Associates, Inc.  The prestigious award recognizes those member organizations that have exceeded industry standards in risk management and provide its patrons with superior safety service.

The “2013 Gold International Aquatic Safety Award” states: “While we are sure that the swimmers who frequent your aquatic facilities already recognize the professionalism exhibited by your lifeguard staff, it is important to inform them that only those clients scoring in the top 30% of the audit criteria received this award. Accordingly, they are consistently being afforded with the highest degree of swimmer protection currently available for the aquatic industry.”

Jeff Ellis & Associates International Aquatic Safety & Risk Management Consultants test each of its Comprehensive Aquatic Risk Management Program members with unannounced safety audits.  Auditors analyze individual lifeguards on their knowledge, rescue skills, and test the facility’s emergency action plans with simulated emergencies. The audit includes an analysis of the administrative, supervisory, and facility procedures as well.

The Zion Park District Port Shiloh Pool award winning outdoor aquatic facility is located at 1501 Shiloh Blvd in Zion. The facility opens on Saturday, June 7th to residents and non-residents.  Daily admission fees are $5 for residents and $9 for non-residents, $2 for seniors 60 & over, and children 3 & under swim free.  Communities of Beach Park, Winthrop Harbor, and Wadsworth qualify for a new neighborhood rate of $6.  For additional information on swim lessons, pool party rentals, and special events at the pool please visit www.zionparkdistrict.com.
