Zion Park District and Zion-Benton Public Library Partner

In an effort to better serve the youth in our community the Zion Park District and the Zion-Benton Public Library have joined forces to enhance programming opportunities. Youth Services Associates Peggy Johnson and Dawn Abron regularly meet at the Park District to have book discussions, make crafts and do science experiments! Youth in the Zion Park District Summer Day Camps will have the opportunity to visit the library for featured programming.

Zion Park District Summer Day Camps run June 10 thru August 23. Summer Camp is designed to provide kids with a broad range of fun, recreational and educational experiences. This is an opportunity to make new friends, see your old friends and make great memories. Sign up for one, two, or as many weeks as you like. Some of the activities are cooking, arts, crafts, sports, field trips, swimming, fishing, a talent show, dodgeball tournament, dancing and more!! Each camper will receive a camp t-shirt and camp bag. We offer three different camps to accommodate grades 1-8. Our staff ratio is one staff member to each group of 8-12 campers, depending on the child’s age and the activity. Our staff is comprised of recreational leaders as well as high school and college students. All staff are trained and certified in CPR and First Aid. Register before May 25th to waive the Early Bird Registration Fee. For additional information on Summer Day Camps contact Betsy Evans at the Zion Park District 847-746-5500 or visit www.zionparkdistrict.com

The Zion-Benton Public Library is hosting a Summer Reading Club (this year’s theme is “Have Book- Will Travel) which starts June 15. Kids from birth through 4th grade can pick up a “passport” and collect stamps for reading and activities every week to earn prizes. This club will run from 6/15-7/27. Contact the library for further information at 847-872-4680.

The Zion Park District and the Zion-Benton Public Library look forward to serving the youth in our community.
